Cross-country skiing

The National Park Bavarian Forest communities have at the foot of Rachel (1,453 m) and Lusen (1,373 m) a regional network of more than 300 km of well-groomed trails.

Particularly popular is the Bavarian Forest cross-country skiing trail. This ski trail with its 150 km length runs from north to south the whole Bavarian Forest. The Bavarian Forest cross-country skiing trail offers wonderful, almost unspoilt landscape with attractive views. It is mostly groomed in the classical style.

You have a variety of choices in the National Park communities. Panorama trails or sheltered forest tracks, mountain tracks or traditional snack trails offer plenty of variety. There are also great routes for fans of skating-style. You can enjoy cross-country skiing not only during the day but also at night. The night trails offer a good expansion of the cross-country variety.

The biathlon for beginners is the newest offer in the Bavarian Forest. Learn the difficult combination of cross-country skiing and marksmanship at the shooting range. A great experience and fun for young and old.
