Zwieselerwaldhaus and Bavarian Eisenstein
In 1997 the Bavarian Forest National Park has been extended to the north, along the country's border with the Czech Republic; it stretches for a distance of 40 km from Mauth up to the border of Bavarian Eisenstein.
A variety of marked trails offer the best way to learn about its diverse and rich natural features.
The hiking park of Bavarian Eisenstein is an ideal starting point for hiking in the new part of the National Park, the Falkenstein-Rachel area.
The National Park philosophy "Let nature be nature" makes possible forest to develop in a natural way. This includes decaying trees.
