Seelensteig

The Seelensteig is considered as one of the best examples of the natural forest development. A thunderstorm in the summer of 1983 has severely raged and destroyed large areas of the mountain mixed forest at the foot of Rachel.
A great example of forest regeneration originated due to this apparent chaos. Young trees had enough protection for their growth between the fallen trees and up to 4m high root plates.

After 30 years you can now explore the development of about 1,3 km circular route on wooden bridges and stairs.

Many romantic places, which are mentioned in poets’ sayings about the forest and nature, the Seelensteig is an ideal place to feel the power of nature..

Seelensteig is reachable by “Igel” bus from Spiegelau.
