Buchberger Leite

The hiking area around the Buchberger Leite, which is under conservation area, is one of the impressive canyon landscapes of the Bavarian Forest. In the Buchberger Leite - from the border mountains, flow rivers Reschbach and Saußbach from Finsterau to Wolfsteiner Ohe. At first alone then together struggles the whitewater roaring and foaming through the Leite.

The national importance of the Buchberger Leite is also conferred by the Bavarian Environment Agency, which awarded it as the "Bavaria's best geological sites". The adventure trail "Man and Nature" in the Buchberger Leite with a length of about 8 kilometres lies between Freyung and Ringelai. You need around 3 hours and good walking shoes for the trail. You will find information boards and numbered signs at important points that indicate specific features in the landscape.
